How to Brew the Perfect Cup

Brewing a perfect cup of coffee depends on many factors. Using these guidelines, you should be able to brew coffee that is as good as the coffee you buy at City Dock Coffee.

  1. Use cold, fresh water. IF available use filtered or bottled water.
  2. Grind the beans according to the brewing method that you will be using: Fine for espresso, medium for drip machines, and coarse for French Press methods.
  3. Grind only as much coffee as you need for each use.
  4. Start with two (2) level Tablespoons per six (6) ounces of water and adjust according to your taste.

Coffee Storage

The best way to store coffee is as whole bean. Ground coffee has more exposed surface area and so it loses its flavor much faster. The beans can be aged by light, heat and air causing the coffee to lose its flavor. To have the freshest coffee you should only purchase the amount of coffee that you use in one week. If you must purchase more than a week's worth, store the coffee in a sealed opaque container in a cooler place. Make sure the coffee is room temperature before using it.
